Sir Edmund Hillary climbed to the top of MT Everest on the
29th May 1953. He tackled rock and ice faces for 5 hours,
but he wasn't alone. He had his climbing partner Sherpa
Tenzing Norgay. After many freezing cold hours of climbing
they finally made it to the top of MT Everest at 11:30 am.
They felt like they were on top of the world.

During the next fifty years Sir Edmund Hillary established
the Himalayan Trust. Heaps of donations came from all
around the world and also volunteer help. He set up
experience on tractors through deep piles of snow and
crevasse covered glaciers. Sir Ed talked to a sherpa about
what’s going to happen in all of their futures. Then the
Himalayan Trust was born. Many donations came from all
around the world to help the Himalayan Trust.

On the first opening of the school 40 students attended.
There were many volunteer help that came from many
different places.
The Sherpas required n airstrip but without no roads and
heavy machinery one hundred Sherpas cut down some bush,
dug out roots and leveled the land. The land was so rocky
which built them to have to move around boulders into big
holes.
