My Chocolate recount

C h o c o l a t e   r e c o u n t

The day was here to make chocolate! We made chocolates to
give to one of our family members. Miss Paton put us in
groups. I was with Toakase, Deborah and Athena. The flavours
were milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate.
We each sat on a desk and waited for Miss Paton to come
with our chocolate.  Me and my group chose the flavour
white chocolate. After the chocolate was melted we all
gathered up at Meron’s table. Miss Paton showed us how
to scoop the chocolate and put it into the chocolate moulds.
We all went back to our tables and started to pour the
chocolate into our moulds. Also Miss Paton told us that we
could go to other people’s tables and get some more
chocolate flavours. Me and my group went to other people’s
table to get the milk chocolate. We used a pot and a plate to
melt the chocolate. We put boiled water into our pot. Deborah
had a great idea in putting the milk chocolate on top of the
white chocolate. After we finished, we saved one little mould
for the dark chocolate. I don’t like dark chocolate and neither
did the rest of the group. There was only one person that was
in my group that liked dark chocolate and it was Toakase.
After all of us finished putting the chocolate into the trays,
some people helped put the chocolate trays in the staffroom
fridge. I hope we can do more cooking soon.

My Camp Recount

I was so very excited to go to Camp. I couldn’t wait to see what was there.
I was thinking that there was going to be so many fun things to do.
When I arrived at school, lots of people were standing outside the hall.
My Mum took a photograph of me and my friends. She left to go to work.
Miss Paton did the roll check and talked for a few minutes.
Then we were finally going to Chosen Valley Christian Camp!
Me and my friends were sitting at the very back of the bus.

About one hour later we arrived at Chosen Valley Christian Camp.
I was jumping with joy when we arrived. It was like a big farm!
My bag was so heavy I felt like it was breaking my shoulders.
Me and my school went to put our stuff in the cabin where we were staying.
The boys from our school had to put their stuff outside while the girls put their
bags inside. We had an assembly. It was about who were in our cabins
and who was in our activity groups. My cabin roommates were Lesina, Ana,
Kanan, Elina, Betty and Carolyn. My activity group was Zariah, Mikkie, Patrick,
Betty, Jirah, Daniel, Huia, Kale, Deborah, Anna and Athena.

The first activity that my group did was Kayaking with Mrs Kopua.
Me, Betty and Zariah got changed into our swimming togs and the boys
did too. Mrs Kopua taught us how to use the paddle. She said to do a figure eight.
Once all of us were in our Kayaks including Mrs Kopua we were having so
much fun going across the lake and back. I also thought that I was a really
good Kayaker. This was my first time trying out kayaking. Then Mrs Kopua
told some of us to get out of our water and wait for a second turn. After all of
us had a second turn we all had to get out of the water and go to our next activity.
Me and Mikkie helped people get out of their Kayaks by holding the boats so they
didn’t fall into the water.

Our next activity was go karting with Miss Gannie from St Therese and Mel from CTK. Mel was at the top of the hill. She waited for us to come with our
Go karts and ride down the hill. Miss Gannie told us that the go karts were
old fashioned. They had a cushion for your bottom, a rope that was like a
steering wheel and there were also tiny wheels at the front and big wheels.
There were not many helmets for all of the group so we had to share.
It was so nice to be with my friends. I had a great time go karting, even though
I crashed a few times. It was quite cloudy and it was sunny at the same time.
I thought Miss Gannie was very nice to us. There were tyres lined up for our
driving path. There were sheep too. Then it ended and it was time for some
lunch!

All of us joined together to have some lunch. We had pasta with some veggies.
It was so delicious. It was bursting with flavours. After the yummy lunch we got
some free time.

Mrs Kopua said there was an adventure playground. Me and my friends went to
our cabin. When we went out the bell rang and we had to assemble.
My and my friend Betty missed our chance to go to the adventure playground,
which was quite disappointing. When it was getting dark all of us went for a
bush walk. Mrs Kopua lead the way. We went up to a high hill and all of us were
so very tired already. Mrs Kopua told us that the hill was not the first part of our
bush walk and everyone then said “Ughhhh” in a tired way. When we went to the
middle of the hill there was a beautiful view. I loved it.  A few hours later after
the bush walk we had to go to bed and brush our teeth. I got changed into my
pyjamas and brushed my teeth. Me and my friends couldn’t sleep. We were
too busy talking and having fun. Miss Goodier stayed with us until we fell asleep.
I couldn’t really sleep because of Betty’s snoring.

The next day me and Kanan were the only ones awake. I could still hear Betty
snoring. I didn’t know what to do and I also didn’t want to read my book, so I
just went to sleep for a few minutes.  A few minutes later, people started to
wake up. All of us were awake but Betty was still asleep and snoring. We
were all staring at Betty until she woke up. Suddenly Betty woke up and she
was looking at us staring at her. Then she said “GoodMorning”. All of us were
laughing. Minutes later it was time for breakfast. I went to the bathroom to
brush my teeth. After that I went to my room and got changed. I was changing
and taking my time until the bell rang. Me and my friends were rushing and
changing. After we assembled out in the grass. We all started to walk to the
place where we needed to eat. One by one we lined up and each took a knife,
Spoon and fork. Mrs Kopua put us in different table groups. I really hoped
pancakes but we didn’t have it for breakfast. The first activity that we did for
day two was balance Island with Miss Paton. Miss Paton showed us a
demonstration by walking on the wobbly bridge. We waited in line until it was
our turn. I was scared to walk on the wobbly bridge because I thought I was
going to fall in the lake. After Patricks turn it was my turn and Anna was
cheering for me. I was so scared to walk across the bridge.  Once I got on
I thought it was easy. Once I got to the balancing part it was getting harder.
I kept on going back and forward so I stopped on the island. After we did
balance island we were going to the Confidence Course! I was waiting in
excitement to do the Confidence Course. When we arrived, Miss Dale taught
us how to do it. Some of the boys showed us examples. After that we all got a
turn of swinging on the rope and going on the net. It was my turn and I was
swinging on the rope. My foot couldn’t hold on to the net so I fell into the mud.
It was disgusting at first but then I got used to it. Miss Dale let us play in the
mud. It sounds disgusting but it was really fun. After the confidence course I
went to take a shower and then meet at the assembly for lunch. We had Mac
and Cheese with Bacon. It was very delicious. We all had lunch Mrs Kopua
gave us some quiet time and free time. We had some play at the adventure
playground then we had to go to bed.

The last day was here I was quite moody because I felt very sick. Our plan for
today was just to pack up our stuff, do one more activity and clean up.
My last activity was with Virginia and Caroline. It was called team building
and also leap of faith.  We did trust fall, we carried each other into a net hole.
We also did some other things too.

I really enjoyed the last three days of camp. I think that spending time with my
friends and taking time away from my annoying sisters was the best three days
of my life but except for getting home sick. I really wish that I didn’t get sick on
the third day of camp. I hope that when I go to Marist I will have more memories
to come.

My Tapa Cloth

This is my Tapa Cloth. I made my Tapa by ruling up gridlines. I divided the lines up so they could make little boxes. I also used black vivid, brown dye and bleach.
